My Thoughts on Today's Accident

Today, death has taken its toll on a student of Geography Education, Indonesia University of Education, Erlan Ardiansyah (May he rest in peace). He was riding a motorcycle, campus-bound. A witness explained that he was trying to overtake a car when suddenly –or maybe not so sudden, as I fairly sure that in a busy street like that, cars will not just turn suddenly in a certain direction—a water transport truck headed on his direction. The two vehicles crashed, and the student fell under the truck and got crushed by the huge wheels of the truck. He died on the way to the hospital, according to the news, though two of my friends who by chance passed the location told me two different stories: one, he died on the spot; the other, he showed bodily movements while still lying on the ground. But, what angers me is the fact that his body was left lying on the street for quite a while, waiting for an ambulance to take it to the hospital. I am aware that traffic jam might be the main cause
